Having grown up in the UK, I came to the Willamette Valley in 1992 and it’s been home ever since. I retrained as an art therapist and counselor because art can calm us, center us, help us see more clearly, and so much more. It certainly remains an important part of my own therapy. I focus on the treatment of trauma and developmental needs in both adults and children, as well as working a lot with those experiencing psychosis. Art therapy can help with a broad range of issues and can be used in combination with talk therapy or as a stand-alone approach. Everyone can benefit from it! You don’t have to think of yourself as creative or need any experience using art materials.
I integrate art and talk therapies and use clay-field as often as is appropriate - sometimes it will need to be blended with other modalities. My approach is collaborative, so an initial session will involve discussing what brings you to therapy and which approaches might help.
